Sports MOT Session

Increase in training demand with an upcoming event? Previous injury with a few new niggles creeping in? Or just want to reduce the likelihood of potential injuries occurring?

When it comes to sports injuries we believe prevention is better than cure, so we offer “MOT” sessions designed to screen for any muscle weaknesses, imbalances or decreased flexibility which may impact your particular sporting activity. These sessions may also include a biomechanical assessment.

Biomechanics is the science of movement of a living body and in particular how bones/muscles/ligaments work together to produce movement. Physiotherapists apply their knowledge of biomechanics to every patient. Having optimal biomechanics for your chosen sport can increase performance and reduce injury risk, so in depth biomechanical screening may be part of your treatment plan. This could involve filming you running or doing a particular sports specific drill to investigate if optimal movement patterns are occurring.

Just like our Sports Assessment we will provide you with a treatment plan and advice around training which may you achieve a more optimal performance.

Sports Massage

Sports massage can be an invaluable adjunct when recovering from an injury. It is a form of deep tissue massage targeted to an individual engaged in regular physical activity and can be specific to an area of tension, injury or overload.

At Physioflex the Physiotherapists and dedicated Sports Massage Therapist work closely together to optimise each patient’s recovery. We also share learning and techniques regularly as part of our CPD to benefit each patient’s experience.

Sports massage can also be useful in managing any general tightness/fatigue in particular muscle groups when an increase in training demand (such as pre-marathon) and for recovery after sporting events.
